Gemma is first and foremost a creative artist.
She can almost always be found somewhere outside creating her work, come rain or shine.
Her affinity for being outside developed at an early age having been raised on an organic small holding were she embodied many ecological, sustainable and environmental ideals that run deeply through the heart of todays society.
However it is important for her to acknowledge that she is a modern girl in a modern world. Although she takes much of her inspiration from the nature, she loves to implement up-to-the-minute technologies when making her work. Often found with a camera in hand, she is also as happy with a fine paint brush or small chisel as with a disk cutter or chainsaw.
In 1996, after graduating from University of Westminster with a degree in workshop ceramics she embarked on a series of public and private artistic commissions.
Out of these grew a passion for garden landscaping. Gemma has designed and built many landscaping projects over the last 15 years.
She brings all this experience and years of observation into her work. Many of her sculptures are exhibited at the Wye Valley Sculpture Garden and her photography sells in various outlets and or can be bought directly from her online shop.
Gemma lives and works in the lower Wye Valley with her long term partner and their teenage children.
