Is it actually time for winter to begin after more than 40 days of rain reaching biblical levels in some parts of the country.
It seems that we must except into our lives the more extreme weather systems and prepare for them but not by building on flood planes and concreting in big flood defences.
We must learn to work with mother nature, not block her but let her flow naturally. Why does man feel he must conquer all, some forces will always be bigger.
So at last temperatures cool and frosts return, nature will receive it’s well needed rest and with it come those magical elements that I so love in this Valley.
Whilst there was a fair amount of over induldence during the festive period my ‘rural ramblings’ continue as normal through the woods and down the lanes of this lovely valley.
It is easy to think that it has rained incessantly for weeks now, which of course it has but I have been blessed with some glorious sunrises. The reward of making the effort to actually set the alarm and get up pays me dividends and is the greatest way to start your day.
I just love the magical streams of warm sunlight that filter through the winter forests and bring colour and vibrance to every aspect of the sleeping landscape. Just for a short while you are part of natures most vivid painting.

Hot off the press…….. #Wye Valley is the place to be 2016 Calendar
A year spent wandering…with camera in hand, around this beautiful valley has given me hours of pleasure. I have loved sharing these images on my facebook page and I have chosen my favourites and created an A4 calendar which is on sale now. If you would like to purchase one either for yourself or as a gift please go to my online shop and click on the paypal button.
Must be raining!……. of course it is.
Work continues at as much pace as can be achieved in a constant deluge.
The sculpture I happen to be working on at the moment is my studio. Some long over due modifications are being addressed as well as putting down some new hard standing areas which means trying not to get quarry lorries and diggers stuck…….Though one wonders if making an ark would not be more appropriate.
But for just one day, there was a show stopper of a day. The clouds lifted and spirits soared!
Everyone grinning in ore and wonder…….. I took a little time to down tools and soak it all up, totally mesmerised!
Fabulous four page feature….and front cover, absolutely thrilled!
